The qualification – poem ‘To the king’ is a panegyric - it is conditioned not so much by the text of Krasicki’s pen, but by views of the last king of the Commonwealth and on the positions of researchers of the past. For the so-called panegyric lever can be used as one of the tools of poetic analysis. ‘To the king’, at least indirectly, they are indicative through their initial words: “the higher, the more visible”. What then is the relationship between Krasicki’s poem and the tradition depicted by the Old Polish royal panegyric with its nine mechanisms of the socalled “ panegyric leverage? Only one of them is fully and simultaneously innovatively taken – this is the “factual” force of the interpretation of facts. The poem ‘The king’ can be read as such a selected set of prerequisites, of which arguments can be selected for the compliant or reprehensible attitudes of supporters and opponents of Stanislas Augustus.
