ABSTRACT
The aim of the article is to indicate that the figure of the Warmian poet Maria Zientara-Malewska, who connects the past with the present, can help in the sense of regional identity. The existence of various memory carriers in the cultural landscape becomes an involuntary incentive to participate in their contemplation, and in the further process arouses deeper interest in the place, object, topic and finally the person himself, leading to building a sense of belonging to a certain community of experiences and ideas. Maria Zientara-Malewska is a symbolic figure for Warmia. It can be talked about in many contexts: teaching the history of this land, talking about its cultural heritage, local customs, traditions, folklore, the Warmian dialect - it referred to the dialect in poetry, prose and writing.
