ABSTRACT
The Prussian tribute of 1569 took place in Lublin, where the Prince of Prussia, Albrecht Friedrich, paid tribute to the King of Poland, Sigismund Augustus. In the Königsberg context, the account of the tribute provides details of the event, emphasizing not only the ceremonial nature of the act, but also its political significance. In 1569, the tribute was a symbolic step toward closer ties between Poland and Prussia. The subject of this article is the text of the 1569 tribute, published in 1810. Its publication is supported by the brevity of its description. The account describes the tribute of 1569 and was essentially unknown in Polish historiography. It is true that Ksawery Liske (1838-1891), a distinguished Polish historian, published a translation of this text into Polish in the newspaper “ Wiadomości Poznańska” in 1868, but without commentary or footnotes.
