The article is devoted to Anna Piasecka – an independence activist associated with Toruń, Kwidzyn, and the Powiśle region. It presents her active involvement in efforts to promote Polish national identity during the period of the partitions, as well as during the 1920 plebiscite in Powiśle, emphasizing the significance of her organizational and social work, and even her financial engagement. The text discusses previously unknown aspects of her life. Of particular importance is the fact that Piasecka was one of the first women in Poland, and the first woman from Pomerania, to be elected to the Legislative Sejm in 1920. The article highlights that, despite her considerable achievements, Piasecka has so far remained a forgotten and marginalized figure in historiography. The study constitutes the first attempt to present a comprehensive biography of her, covering both her independence activities and her life in the realities of post-war communist Poland.
