ABSTRACT
2025 marks 1,000 years since the coronation of Bolesław Chrobry (Bolesław the Brave) as the first king of Poland. In the history of Polish music, composers' interest in the person of the ruler dates back to the beginning of the 19th century. Only then did secular music - vocal and instrumental, solo, ensemble and orchestral - begin to dominate over church and religious music. For this reason, there are few works dedicated to Bolesław Chrobry (Bolesław the Brave). Two songs for voice with piano accompaniment - by the amateur Cecylia Beydale and the composer Stanisław Moniuszko - were created during the 19th century, the next two compositions - by Zygmunt Moczyński and Feliks Nowowiejski for choir with instrument accompaniment - were created in the 20th century, in connection with the celebration of the 900th anniversary of the coronation of Bolesław Chrobry (Bolesław the Brave). In the 21st century, performers refer to his character and post their vocal and musical interpretations on the Internet.
