ABSTRACT
The subject of this publication is to present the community and fate of German war criminals, members of the crews of the German Nazi concentration camps KL Auschwitz and KL Stutthof, serving prison sentences in the Central Prison in Sztum in the years 1946-1957. The result of the research was the establishment of a list of 90 people sentenced to prison for committing German war crimes. The Sztum unit included all those sentenced to prison (except three women) in the largest trial of forty defendants before the Supreme National Tribunal, as well as those tried in group and single trials before the Special Criminal Court in Gdańsk and the District Court in Gdańsk and Kraków. Presenting the group of prisoners of German war criminals, its demographic structure, the amount of sentences passed, the course of execution of the sentence, and the reasons and dates of release from prison were described.
