The article “Pan Podstoli”: Interspecific Oscillation of the Text is a polemic on the text of Piotr Żbikowski’s
The Origins of the Polish Novel, i.e. the Genological Structure of “Pan Podstoli”, in which the author tries to prove that the work of Krasicki is not a novel, but a mirror. Żbikowski is fundamentally right, but his powerful argument
is not fully convincing, insofar as it does not cover the entirety of Krasicki’s text. In my article I try to show that in
“Pan Podstoli” there are fragments that escape the logic of the mirror, and which perfectly implement the logic of
the novel. In this respect the earlier findings of researchers demonstrating the hybrid nature of the work remain
valid, but my own contribution shows that this hybrid is internally different
